The Problem
As part of Sabodala Mining’s operation a primary crusher was installed to handle the material discharged from a vibrating grizzly feeder. The crushed material was then discharged via a chute to the stockpile feed conveyor. The fugitive dust generated during this process was considerable and therefore required control. In addition, a lime silo supplying lime for the refining process was required to be vented via an insertable type dust collector.
Solution
Luehr received the order from the project managers Ausenco in Perth for the supply of fabric filters for both of these applications. The filters selected were from the Luehr DFV range, which utilise reverse pulse compressed air “on-line”, cleaning of the filter bags.
The unique feature of this design is its flat horizontal filter bag arrangement, which allows extremely quick inspection of the clean air chamber. This facility obviates the need to use tools or lifting gear to access the filter bags. Bag changing is conducted from the adjacent access platform and does not require maintenance personnel to enter the filter.
Result
The units were delivered in a closed shipping container on schedule and are performing well in the arduous conditions.
